After a long, sleepless flight, we’ve landed in Cairns ready to take on Australia…. Once we’ve had a day or two’s rest, that is!
Jet lagged as I am, I very much doubt I’d be in any condition to put my bike together, let alone cycle anywhere! Flying with Jetstar was nice and painless- they only weighed my box (at nearly 33kg), and made no comment of the 6 pieces of hand luggage we had between us. All in all, I’d call that a success.

Sitting in the transfer lounge of Darwin looked like some sort of wartime infirmary though, with countless people (me included) sprawled out on top of couches, bags, and carpets, each one looking vacant, lost, and in a great deal of discomfort.

Luckily though we’ve managed to find a generous host for a couple of days through Half asleep we managed to bolt together the bikes, and in the afternoon heat sort out all our equipment.

It looks like a beautiful area so far, and will make for some of the most different cycling so far.
Also there’s a cat here, which is really really nice.

And now at a respectable 8pm, it’s bedtime…………
