Out of the Rhine, into the water

I’ve realised, as I lie here in the thundering rain and howling wind, that I’ve never actually been in my tent during a lightning storm. Its a strange experience, and a somewhat unnerving one. Another excellent test of the tent’s abilities; its shaking as much as it did when I was camped next to the Shinkansen…
Jack would’ve loved this.

Today was a much better day, made up some miles, got past Heidelberg and heading into the heart of Germany now. Just have to avoid these mountains tomorrow, and hope the tents survive the night.
Wow its wet and windy. Might be a night for the earplugs…
